Who I Am.

Real life. Real recovery. Real change.
Dan Silvestri.
I'm not a conventional therapist, coach and mindfulness educator/mentor.
I’m someone who has personally lived through deep betrayal and abandonment, abuse, heartbreak and breakdowns, and has faught hard against the odds to not repeat the trauma I'd receieved - I later re-trained to coach self-awareness skills, and now I walk alongside others who carry their own difficult stuff, and instead are deciding to continue walking onwards, with greater consideration and love.
I founded The Farside Project to deeply help people, emotionally and practically, from the inside out and bottom up. I work with individuals, couples and families, to leaders, professionals, businesses, teams and organisations who require people training, development and team change.
And I enjoy working with those who want to reconnect with themselves and their lives differently, authentically and more intimately. Who want to adjust or rebuild their lives beyond internal tensions, doubts, stress, fears, anger, darkness, repetative trauma or 'stuckness'.
Exploring Personal Awareness
My Story

I grew up inside succesful family run businesses - but behind the scenes was chaotic and abusive. My childhood was marked by the miss treatment of emotional connection and communication, instability, and subsequent deep betrayal and fraud at the hands of my father, followed by his eventual abandonment. In my early 20's my fathers secret second life, and the many years of dishonesty came to the surface, and almost over night I lost my business, my finances, my home, my family, and the already little safety and security I had - I was left with a very large hole in the fabric of my existence and life.
My early start in life began with an unknown amount of years ahead living with inner turmoil, deep rooted confusion, anger and suffering as I came to find myself 'in my head' having lost everything - including my family, myself, and all of my future hopes and dreams.
I didn't have people around at the time who I could openly grieve with, feel safe with, trust or open up to, let alone those who could provide any level of advice, support and understanding with such deeply painful matters. I entered into deep states of confusion and survival. I become aware of the patterns and cycles of hurt, pain and trauma, and how we unconsciously pass our own pain and misstreatment onto others - and I wanted to break this 'trauma chain'.
Music, art and nature became my first language of trauma recovery. I was a passionate singer-songwriter, performing and recording with various bands. Writing, recording and gigging became a way to express what I couldn’t yet fully articulate, express or say out loud. A true highlight was recording with a close friend at the legendary Abbey Road Studios - it was moments like this that I could let out my energy and inner pain, as well as escape from my current lived reality and life plans in the midst of deeply heavy times.
During some of my darkest years, it was music, nature, adventure sports, and moments of true, genuine, empathetic connection with my closest friends that quietly held me together. When I had no idea how I was going to be able to move forward, these spaces gave me just enough love, fun, joy, care, kindness and safety (along with some great catharsis) to keep going and moving forward in better and healthier ways.
Eventually, I found the strength and courage to reach out to a Hypnotherapist - this step marked the very beginning of my deeper journey back to myself and towards life - and most importantly, this marked a conscious step for me to compassionately begin adjusting to my new life and how to live with such deep painful lived experiences and the way things had all come to be - I had a lot of anger and hurt to ride through - and it certainly took a lot for me to uncover and discover deeper inner courage, compassion, love and respect for myself, and an honouring of my life, to release the anger and suffering, and to pick myself up again. (I didn't want for myself to be just another typical overly masculine, angry and abusive type of guy')
I explored many forms of psychotherapy and counselling, and whilst very helpful, most of the time I found myself going around in my head and in circles.
I came to discover coaching, and more pro-active, holistic and intuitive approaches to personal recovery, well-being and growth through integrating embodied self-awareness, compassionate meditation, mindfulness, presence and spiritual insight into my trauma-recovery journey.
Coaching support helped me gain many practical tools and solution-focused strategies whilst developing a forward-thinking, action-oriented expansive mindset, allowing me to take greater control and management of myself and my life so that I could create real, deeper lasting and more productive and positive changes.
I couldn't have got to where I am today all on my own - I required a whole new support system to help me develop a new mindset and approach to life, who would champion me to succeed whilst up against it all. I've been fortunate to meet people who took their time to deeply understand me - beyond my pains, hurt and suffering, and have helped me emotionally connect in healthier ways and towards my personal goals of living a happier, healthier and more peacefully interconnected life.
Over time, I trained and became educated in the very modalities and tools that helped me recover and grow: From trauma-informed practices, embodied processing and somatic work, mindfulness, hypnotherapy, NLP, and other integrative coaching, therapy and mentoring practices.
I now support others in various ways. I see peple for who they really are, even when they may not yet be able to fully see themselves, and I enjoy championing others when they may not yet be a strong champion for themselves, or have anyone else in their corner they can trust or deeply open up with.
I personally know just what a difference this deep level of authentic support can truly make in our lives, relationships. and to our mental health and emotional well-being.
"The circle and cycles of life will continue, regardless.
We're each faced with the choice - to continue internalising, projecting and repeating our own internal pain, hurts and suffering onto others and into the world - or to take a little time, deeply getting to know ourselves. Re-learning how to best manage our life and relate peacefully, expressing with deeper love, joy and intimacy".
My Business & Barbering Background
.jpg)
Before dedicating myself to supporting, training and helping people develop emotional skills, I spent over a decade building and leading successful service-led businesses. From a young age I was immersed in the world of business, retail, customer experience and service.
My first managerial role came early in life, moving from store assisant to assistant manager at 17-18 years old within a growing high end pet shop brand, Pets Corner, where I began helping the CEO's open new stores.
My own earliest business venture was as a franchise owner/operator at 19, with a business called Shakeaway. By running two high street stores I helped build the brand, co-led daily operations, managed staff, and learned firsthand what it takes to run a fast-paced, customer-focused business under a national brand.
That experience gave me a strong grounding in leadership, marketing, systems, and service delivery - I was fortunate to have learned many foundational business skills from a very young age from great business mentors, this shaped not only the rest of my business journey, but unknowngly these skills were transferable as they helped me move through some darker times of my life.
Later, I co-founded Jack Rabbits Barbers, a high-end barbershop brand that grew into a thriving multi-site business with a standout reputation. Alongside co-building this brand, I helped train barbers, lead small teams, and began co-development of a franchise model to support future growth. A key highlight was launching a joint venture with John Lewis’ flagship store, where we opened their first-ever in-house barbershop, a collaboration that continues to run today.
As a master barber, I had the privilege of working with an extraordinary range of people - from Premier League footballers, managers, and club staff, to actors, musicians, writers, and artists. I also worked with multi-million-pound business owners and small startups, high-performing professionals, and everyday clients from all walks of life. My shops and chair became more than a place for haircuts - it was cultural and became a hub and a space for connection, presence, and real human conversation.
Over time, I began weaving mindfulness, wellness, and emotional support into my client relationships - naturally blending high qualuty service with listening, support and care. That experience laid the foundation for the work I now do in therapeutic, coaching, and leadership spaces.
As the business grew, a tough crossroads emerged. My business partner and I had different visions, desires and ways of growing. Our differences ultimately led me to step away.
That decision was difficult - but pivotal. It opened the door to new possibilities, and ultimately to the work. I provide today.
Today, I bring my lived experience into my work with entrepreneurs, professionals, and organisations - offering a rare combination of business acumen, deep emotional intelligence, and trauma-informed presence. I understand both performance and pressure, and I support clients to lead consciously, grow with clarity and heart, and build sustainable lives and businesses rooted in values, purpose and vision with consideration, compassion and integrity.

What I believe

I believe that self-awareness, presence and connection are core pieces that helps us discover, develop, recover and grow. Trauma isn’t just in the mind - it’s also energy in the body, the nervous system, the heart and the soul - and if trauma isn't managed or dealt with it's a cycle of pain, hurt and suffering which continues and grows between two or more people. I believe we all have the capacity to return to a deeper place of inner peace, happiness and wholeness when we’re given the right kind of space, skills, tools in a compassionate space and trauma-aware helping relationship.
My approach is integrative, intuitive, science backed, spiritual, and person-led. I work conciously and subconciously - with insight, truth, strength and gentleness thats embodied from the inside out and bottom up through the eyes of my clients direct experience and where they are in their life.
"The tell-tale signs of who we are and who we wish to be is clearly seen through what we do and how we go about doing it". - DS
Influences, Teachers, Mentors

I've been supported and shaped by wise mentors - people who have inspired, and also deeply challenged me (sometimes in good and positive ways, and some in not such good ways).
However, their presence in my life has been instrumental in helping me become who I am today, personally and professionally.
There are many I won't name who have championed and supoprted me in various ways over the years. But a special appreciation for those who have been fully alongside me with full-hearted compassion, open ears and kindness to offer their support, help and guidance where others wouldn't or couldn't - Rasheed Ogunlaru, Dr Martin Patrick and Marcus Fellowes.
My work has also been shaped by many other mentors, East & West traditions and wisdom, and various non-dual insight teachings. I'd like to specifically highlight: Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach, Ram Dass, Thich Nhat Hanh, Jean Klein, Eckhart Tolle, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Alan Watts, Adyashanti, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta Maharaj, Dan Millman, Henry Shukman, John Amaechi, The Way of Zen, many strands of Buddhism, Yoga, teachings of direct non-dual experiencing, Native American and first nation traditions with whom I've sat in circles with, and many more.
I’ve also been deeply influenced by sport, music, art, nature, and observational studies of just every day life, human nature, conditioning and flourishment.

My Mission, Vision, Purpose, Dream & Hope
A Deeper Thought on Inclusive Access and Support
When navigating life’s deeper challenges, who's in your corner and who do you turn to? Not everyone needs or wants for official labels or diagnosis - many simply need to feel safe, be heard and compassionately supported by someone who truly sees them.
Many people struggling with deeper emotional or life challenges often find themselves caught in systems that feel clinical, slow, or impersonal. While there is immense value in the expertise of psychiatrists, psychologists, and registered mental health professionals, the reality is that these services can be bound by red tape, long waitlists, or narrow or re-traumatising or stigmatising diagnostic frameworks. People aren’t always looking for an official diagnosis, labels or medication (although I fully understand how gaining an official neurodiversity insight from a doctor can be really helpful) - with or without an official or self diagnosis, I believe whoever we are we are mostly looking for connection, compassion, love, positive insights, a space to feel and process, and gain real, practical guidance from people who understand how to live a good life.
That’s where I hope to come in. I offer an integrative, trauma-informed, and embodied professional approach that’s also grounded in real human experience - I also carry western & eastern science, philosophy and theory (and I may offer clients some education along the way). I’ve lived through trauma and recovered through mindfulness practice from the inside out and bottom-up - inner healing work. Professionally, I've trained in multiple disciplines to understand the mind, the body and the mind-body connection to safely guide others through their complex, and far too often stigmatised and miss-understood inner journeys as best as I can!
I’m certainly not a replacement for clinical care work when it’s needed - but I am a credible professional, and deeply experienced option for people who wants holistic, person-centred, emotionally intelligent support that meets them where they are, takes their full life and lifestyle into account, and someone willing to travel with them through the next stages of their life's journey.
This was the kind of support that was missing for me.
And for many others, this is the kind of support that’s been missing for them.
With kindness, Dan silvestri.
